Bohuslän Big Band and Danilo Pérez confirmed for Guimarães Jazz in Portugal

Bohuslän Big Band has been invited to take part in the prestigious Guimarães Jazz festival in Portugal, together with the multiple Grammy-winning pianist, arranger and composer Danilo Pérez. The festival takes place in the city of Guimarães in mid-November and annually brings together some of the world’s leading jazz artists, musicians and ensembles.
In recent years, Bohuslän Big Band has established itself as one of Europe’s leading big bands. They have taken part in several international jazz festivals and toured in countries including Germany, the USA, China, and Japan. Most recently, the band performed at the Panama Jazz Festival 2025.
“Part of our artistic mission from the Västra Götaland Region includes international exchange. It is a great joy and an honor to represent Swedish big band music and to perform together with the fantastic Danilo Pérez on the international stage,” says Eric Brandström Arellano, orchestra director of the Bohuslän Big Band.
Concert together with Danilo Pérez
During the festival, Bohuslän Big Band will give a concert together with Danilo Pérez – a continuation of a long-standing collaboration between the big band and the Panamanian pianist.
Last year they released the joint album Lumen, a genre-defying fusion of Nordic jazz traditions and Latin American rhythms. The album reflects both Bohuslän Big Band’s stylistic range and Pérez’s innovative compositions.
In January, the big band performed at the Panama Jazz Festival, and now they are confirmed for yet another prestigious international appearance – this time in Portugal at Guimarães Jazz.
