Three questions for Niclas Rydh

What are your musical inspirations?

– Everything from Duke Ellington to György Ligeti.

How long have you played in the Bohuslän Big Band?

– Since 1990 – so for over 30 years!

What is your best memory with Bohuslän Big Band?

– When we played with Carla Bley at the Moers free jazz festival in Germany in 2013. Another fun memory was when we performed the Zappa production at Kungstorget in Gothenburg in 1999. There was a big crowd, about 5,000 people in the audience, and it was a real success. When the concert was about to end, it was announced that we had to stop at 11:00 p.m. due to municipal regulations. The audience was so excited and didn’t want us to stop playing. In the end they chanted, “to hell with the council, to hell with the council.”
